Taking advantage of low water levels for an end of season trip into Redhouse. We were one of the first tourist trip groups to book in using the new permit system. The entrance series was reasonably dry and all straightforward. We were then into the impressive passageways beyond the breakthrough choke. I had only been as far as Tiff's Treat before, so it was great to see the huge passages beyond that.
We used the survey and description to find our way to Mindless Optimism, we then went to explore Cryogenic Causeway, which was a very cool passage (literally, with a cold draught!) in very white limestone. After that we headed to the Wizard Junction and Off To See The Wizard.
We saw some of the original explorers on our way out. They had been surveying and doing science trips in the Lower Streamway.
The return through the entrance series was all OK, and went quite quickly.
A really great trip, and the Redhouse team and FODCCAG have done a great job with the access permits, conservation taping, and surveying.
