Evening trip to Nick Pot. Suprisingly the water levels seemed very high on the walk up, but we thought we'd continue to have a look.
Tim rigged the entrance and the Traverse of the Gods (which was a pretty cool high-level traverse). We were then at the top of Vulcan Pot, which was thundering with water. I went cautiously down to have a look, but couldn't fine the Trouser Flake rebelay without being in the full force of the water. It seemed the water was hitting the top of the flake and going down either side. After a bit of time trying to find a safe route down, I decide it was not possible and headed back up. We then de-rigged and went out.
Through trip from Death's Head to Lost John. We made a slight error at the bottom of the first pitch, where I started traversing along some bolts, but I should have just gone to the boulder floor and onto the next very short pitch to reach the main chamber. The scaffold climb down through the bottom of the main chamber was very impressive.
We soon reached the main Leck Fell stream way, which was full of foam from previous high water levels, but the water seemed fairly low. We headed upstream to see what the ducks/canal was like. After a fair bit of wading through chest-deep water and a few short ducks, we were soon back to lovely walking streamway. We then reached Groundsheet Junction, turned left and met Tim/Ollie just as Tim was abseiling down the last pitch of Lost John (amazing timing).
This was a cold drafty place, and we were soaking wet, so after a brief discussion, we headed up the impressive Valhalla pitch, which warmed us up nicely. We then headed out via the Cathedral/Dome route and de-rigged as went.
An awesome exchange trip.
Through trip from Stream Passage to Flood Entrance.
